How relationships helped us tackle freight challenges
Before COVID-19, Galuku (like many companies) were looking for ways to be more efficient and cost effective while still serving our customers. This led us to explore online freight companies to organise delivery. This worked without issue for some time, but when freight began to breakdown globally, so did the ‘efficient’ online system. It soon became clear to us that relationships were the real power in our business. We turned to our exisiting connections within the freight industry to tackle freight challenges and it showed us the power of partnership all over again.
Building connection over time
When we first began Galuku, it was all about building partnerships. A partnership between our company and Australian customs, us and our developing factories, us and our new customers. Now that we have been producing coir substrate for over 20 years, we have built strong lasting relationships we know we can call on.
In India, Sri Lanka and Malaysia where our amazing factory teams are working, we have years of relationships that are the foundation of our business. We can call on our team and partners there at any time and they can help us, and we can say the same of us for them.
When COVID-19 hit, it was our relationships within the shipping industry that enable us to continue to supply product for our customers. Especially as containers were delayed, supplies were stuck and communication was breaking down throughout the world – our long standing relationships remained. Now we have renewed passion for these connections and are forging a system from sales to freight to support, founded on partnership.
Partnering with customers for the future
Around the world our customers are important partners too. At Galuku we see that continual partnership and relationship between us and our customers is pivotal for what we do. We don’t want to simply sell and forget, we want to supply and support farmers to reach their goals and best outcome.
While partnership has always been important to us, it is now becoming an essential part of how we do business. As shipping continues to be a difficult balance throughout the world, we are partnering with our customers so we can understand your business, your product needs, and anticipate them.
As a company we are implementing a new system for shipping, where we always have containers on the water. This enables us to constantly bring in the supply our customers need. Meaning you no longer have to wait for the stars to align when you place your order, but rather build a relationship with us so we can always know what you need and be already transporting it.
Additionally, we want to partner with you past the product and through your growing process. At Galuku we have technical support available to help you get the best out of your exisiting crops or the best outcome for new plantings.
